Stuff...

Finally, the director's cut of the critically acclaimed short film Dream Me is on the cutting room floor...hehe. I'm so excited. All the raw footage is captured including bloopers...yes, I'm still laughing at them to this day. We've decided to add commentary to the film as well. Of course, it will be done by none other than the members of the Dream Me Team...it's gonna be a fun one...oh the joy!

So, I'm watching the catharsis theory unfold before my very eyes. A mass game of Slayer in Halo 2 has grown men laughing the evil laughter in triumph over the dead and bloodied bodies of other players. Agression taken out by the mere enjoyment of a video game...I could go on, but I'll stop.

However, because of this Halo madness in my home, I am forced away from my computer home; they took my lan line to connect one of the xboxes to the internet...stinks. But...the laptop is mine, which means I'm free to roam the house as I watch That Thing You Do for the ten millionth time. Yes!

And, in less than a week, school basically starts up again. Wind Ensemble rehearsals have me on campus for 12 hours a day...at least I'll get to see everyone again! This break has definitely gone by pretty quickly. And, I must say, I don't think I've gotten much accomplished at all...or, rather, I haven't done much at all...except work. You gotta love retail in the holidays...

Goodbye my little finned friend...

So I just had a fish funeral...yes, that's right...Fish finally kicked the bucket. After a year and a half or so of swimming in my little bowl with the pretty blue stones and the peace lily sucking up all of his water, he died...so, I flushed him down the toilet while humming Taps. What's sad is the fact that my brother actually bought him something for Christmas, but my poor, scaled friend didn't live to see that day ::tear:: Oh woe to the Fish...he was a good pet...

umm...ya...more later: this was just for me being a slacker and not updating.

Faithfulness...

I read it once about a woman who wanted that song played at her wedding as she walks down the aisle. What an extraordinary idea...because the faithfulness of the Lord is most definitely evident in that momentous occasion and will be throughout the rest of the marriage. But it's not just in that event that the Lord can show His amazing faithfulness...
So He's kinda been teaching me a bit more about His faithfulness. So many times I discount the fact that the Lord is truly on my side, pulling for me. But, His faithfulness to keep His promises and to "[work] for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose," (Romans 8:28) is forever and amen. He is always at work to be faithful for His children. He is truly wonderful.
I preached Wednesday night at oneighty abilene about Him being the foundation of our lives. (A spin-off of a November entry about glue sticks...it's amazing what ideas the Lord can bring through everyday things.) But through that sermon and that leap of faith for me, He has blessed me tremendously and has shown me the vastness of His love and faithfulness that extends to those who love Him and live for Him.

Experience the faithfulness of the Lord...open your eyes and see it! Great is Thy faithfuless, Oh Lord unto me...

Graduation 2004...

I never realized how quickly time could fly...

It's the end of the semester, December 2004. My brother graduates from Abilene Christian University tomorrow night, and I've realized how quickly time has gone by. I never really imagined this day to come...and I know it's not my graduation, but it still hits pretty hard because we are so close. I'll be close behind, and I really cannot fathom that right now. It's a bit scary...oh, but to know that the Lord has it all in the palm of His hands, that's all I need. There's no need to fear; there's no need to worry. But find comfort and peace in knowing that the Lord has it all written out in His perfect and divine plan of love and grace for His children. He is truly good.

You found me...

I think I was just thrown into this...it just fell into my lap. Didn't expect it; didn't see it coming...obviously, I'm a bit freaked out about it...about him...not freaked out in a bad way either...I guess freaked out gives a negative connotation. Freaked out in the sense of not being prepared. I don't like to be caught off guard, to not know what's coming up next. I want to be able to see it from afar and prepare for anything and everything. But, sometimes I can't always be prepared. God won't always tell him in advance another element in His plan, and I certainly can't put on my special God-goggles to see those plans for myself.

That's just what happened this time around. I didn't see him coming. I honestly didn't recognize an even remote possibility that someone would jump into my life quite like he did just now...or even while I'm still in college. Nevertheless, he did. I was perfectly happy with letting go of any dating notion and dealing with my "fear of commitment," only to find out that the "fear of commitment" was just a fear of something new, something different. And, he's definitely challenging that...he's challenging my fear of someone new, because he's very new to me in the grand scheme of things. But it's almost as if I've known him forever...isn't that how it usually is? But here's the best part: I've been told to not look. When you least expect it, when you're not looking and actively waiting, there he'll be. And, you won't have to go find him...no...he finds you. That's how it is: he finds you. That's how it's supposed to be. Sure enough, I didn't expect it. And I certainly wasn't looking anymore; I gave up, completely (and cynically) quit to be honest. And that is when, the time that I most definitely least expected it, he showed up.

I think, therein, lies my issue. Because I didn't expect it at all and was prepared to live a while (maybe even forever; yes, I even toyed with that idea) without someone by my side (to be known as "the single one"), I became a bit skeptical...doubts filled my head. Is this really what I want, what I need, and, most importantly, what the Lord has? To be honest, I didn't know what to do; I was flippin' out scared... But, it's all there in front of you, Jesiree. Don't you see it? He's a blessing, a gift...just as he should be...from the Lord Almighty. Don't over-scrutinize it. Don't over-analyze it. But, accept it. Don't miss out this wonderful blessing from the Lord.

So thank you, Nathan, for shaking my world up a bit and not being a part of my plans and my expectations...but being a part of His. Thanks for seeing passed the "old," weird nerd and finding the wanna be rocker and author (among other things)...for finding me. I'm excited to see what the Lord has in store. Thank you for being a blessing.

Eso si que es...

So, now I'm gonna not be a slacker/be a slacker and update now...

I don't think I've ever studied/not studied so much in my life...my brain is definitely on overload...oh but soon, it will be over! Even that in itself is bittersweet, since the day it will all be over is the same day that my friends go home...and then, there's me...in Abilene. Eso si que es.

My Christmas shopping hasn't gotten off the ground yet. I know, sad times...18 days-ish until Christmas, and I've got jack. This could get stressful...oops. Otra vez, eso si que es. I tried to get some of the shopping accomplished this afternoon, but ended up just hanging out doing basically nothing with Nathan...and that's way okay with me too :)

I realized yesterday that it's the little things that God just kind of throws at me that make me smile...that sometimes, or rather most times, I don't need the biggest spiritual revelation or awakening to get me excited about what He's doing or even more importantly, who He is. The warm glow of a Windows XP-blue sky puts some pep in my step every time, not to mention the daily reminders that He is in control and that I need to trust His spirit becasue He knows all...every last detail of my life...guess what? He knows it, He's made it, created it and placed in motion.

"My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to you- I, whom you have redeemed. My tongue will tell of your righteous acts all day long, for those who wanted to harm me have been put to shame and confusion." ~ Psalm 71:23-24

Finals week and whatnot...

So there's a stack of papers...Loose-leaf sheets of college-ruled paper, colorful masterpieces of pink, blue, purple, orange and green, used blue books and scantrons and copies of powerpoint notesall framing the academic concepts and principles surrounding COMMUNICATION LAW... sitting on my desk...all notes that I need to study for my Communication Law final. I will be one happy kid when that's all over.

Wow...Finals week is already upon us?? Apparently so, it's incredible. This semester has flown...and, I must say, despite all my downfalls and the occasional rough times, this was probably my best semester here yet...I have enjoyed it thoroughly! The Lord has definitely blessed me beyond anything I could ever have imagined, and for that, I am truly and forever grateful. The rich blessings of the Lord are beautiful beyond compare...

Gingerbread house building party of fun brought to you by Habitat for Gingermanity...gobs of fun...like uber-fun! Out-of-control gingerbread sleigh and reindeer and fun times with mistletoe, candles and a movie..yay Christmas Social was last night...definitely my favorite social yet, for various reasons...one in particular.

An update...

I know...it's about time I updated...

Yesterday the sky was Windows XP blue as I was walking to chapel; it made me happy! It's been a busy last week of the semester before finals...all I have to say is: I'll never have to sit through a Comm Law class again! How exciting is that??? 'Cause it's real exciting to me. Pink week number I'm-not-sure to be completed tomorrow and extended through Saturday, hopefully! I love pink weeks.

Random scripture that reminds me of the awesomess of the Lord Almighty:

YBP retreat fun...

I LOVE Big Purple band kids!!!
So, the annual YBP retreat was this weekend, and I must say, it was beautiful. I definitely worked some muscles that I hadn't worked in quite a while and got my share of bumps and bruises, but it was all worth it.

My random thoughts from this weekend:

I wonder if my class will ever learn that cheaters never prosper... * If you want to miss out on a day or two, just take some benadryl * I can enjoy pick-on-Jesiree time as much as the rest of you * Balloons in the freezer don't freeze, but they do get icky spit crystals * Being attacked and tied up in your own sweatshirt is not cool...who am I kidding? It's actually kinda fun * "If you think male percussionists are hot..." are you kidding me? Who do you think I am...of course! * Just because I'm little doesn't mean I'll shrink * Juniors kick butt at basketball * Teresa didn't fall for Ben, therefore Ben should shave his legs * There should never be a piano in any room at retreat...it's just wrong * ...

Thanksgiving followed by Black Friday this week...oh the joys of retail. Then, next weekend, Christmas Social...yay for Oplin and cowboy hats!!! I'll probably think of something else to say later, but this is it for now.

To live for Him...

So Monday night I had an on-call shift (which basically means I have to call before the shift to see if they need me in) at ae. I was hoping and praying that I wouldn't be called in because I had a Comm Law test on Tuesday. I called and, of course, had to go in at 6. Needless to say, I was a little overwhelmed and stressed...almost had a breakdown by the GATA fountain. I got to work that night and worked on shipment for most of the night. I became really upset around 6:30 when there were three of us there, and I felt as though I was the only one really doing work. So, I took my boxes of shipment to the back stockroom and turned the radio on to KGNZ. As I was ripping open plastic bags and sizing women's underwear, I was reminded of Colossians 3:23

"
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men,"

Ouch...blow to the ego. For the rest of the night, I could not longer dwell upon the fact that I was there, working when I didn't want to be anymore. I couldn't half-heartedly go about work doing only the things my manager would see just to make it look like I was actually accomplishing something. Instead, I had to work for the Lord.

But isn't that how it is in every part of life. We (or at least I do) try to please everyone else, to do things that they'll notice for our own gain. But what does that profit us? What does that bring us in the end? Only a sensitive ego that has to be fed every six minutes or so...and who needs that?

So I'm challenging myself to live every day...every moment...as though I'm living it for the King. After all, He's the only one we should be trying to please. Colossians 3:24 goes on to say:

since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving."

That sums it all up, I guess. To Him be the glory forever and ever!

Rainy days and Mondays...

So, this rain...it's killing me. I'm just not a fan of the dreariness, the wetness and the dirtiness that results from the rain. Not to mention, the uncontrollable weather-related mood shifts. I hate them...I want to be in a good mood, but the stinkin' sun doesn't shine for a few days, and it's like I don't know what pure joy is. But, the things is, I do know what pure joy is. The emotional/spiritual undulation that results from the gray skies is nothing more than the clouding of my view - the forgetting of what is true and real. You see, when I get like this, I usually am forgetting the fact that the Lord should be the source of my joy. I'm forgetting that He is my strength and my song and that He rejoices over me in singing...that's awesome! Granted, it's still rather difficult for me to get through the dreary days. But to be reminded that there's something (someone) greater than the clouds above me and higher than the heights that seem to close me in...that's when I can be thankful - be joyful.

To not get lost in my puddles of self-pity, self-doubt and yuckiness...

Candid...

Coming to grips with the reality that: I can't see the plans of forever or know each moment called now. Instead, the story of my life is read in time...I can't know before it's time to know. Only the Lord can see the plans of forever. He sees passed all I see. He knows much more than I will ever know. Yet, He still cares for me. And, in that I can find His insurmountable love that transcends all other love. It's the love of a Father, Creator, Friend and Lover...one that penetrates even the hardest of hearts and the weariest of souls. To the tired, the lonely, the broken down; the scared, the anxious, the fearful; the one who is me: the arms of the Father, the Creator, the Friend, the ultimate Lover are beckoning. Find comfort in the Almighty, the Peace-speaker. Let Him be your strength when you are weak.

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." ~ Matthew 11:28-30

Sometimes I need to preach to myself...to remind myself that He is good.

It's okay...

Seems to be the theme for the weekend for me...or at least in relation to me and the world around me. I've had to let go of some things, and let the Lord take over. Let Him break my heart and tear out those things that shouldn't be, because He has a cause for something greater - beyond what I can see and comprehend right now. Oh, it hurts. It's that pain that really and truly breaks your heart; when you feel it physically...But to trust in God in this: He makes all things beautiful in His time. This is a part of His process of creating a masterpiece, a work of art, called me (and you). He's refining the silver...you are the silver. He "puts the heat on;" let's us go through the struggles and sometimes, even rips a few things out. But only to make it more beautiful than before. And, even better, in the end, we find His reflection in ourselves. So, it's okay to hurt. And it's okay to let go. Sometimes you just need to take those things that plague you, pull them out, and release them for your hands...open your hand and watch it fly away. It's good for the soul. I'm excited to see what the Lord will do now...

So with that said...I probably just witnessed one of the most *ahhh* moment...the posting of this year's wind ensemble. I never knew that it would be so competitive and so heartbreaking this year, but it was for many people. I just wish it didn't have to be this way...

Anyway...Christmas social is around the bend...I'm gonna need a date...gah FilmFest premiere/awards night is Friday. I hope we did well. And, if not, at least I had tons of fun in the process!

Glue stick continued...

So, here's the continuation of the glue stick thing. That half inch at the bottom is the central part, the core...it's what holds the whole glue stick together. If there's not a substantial base to the glue stick, then when you twist the bottom and try to use it, it would break. Then, how much of the glue stick would you waste.

*Note: The same concept also applies to chapstick, erasers on mechanical pencils or pencils in general, deodorant and things of that nature

But since that stability is there, you can use it. You can spread it out across paper (or whichever medium of your choice,) and it would
thout stick. It would serve its purpose. The same can be applied to your (and my life). With that substantial base - the core foundation, that part of you that is the essence - you can't really, effectively fulfill your calling. You need to know who you are...moste of who you are accompanied by that which you are rooted in importantly, who you are in Christ, before you can truly step into that place where He has set aside aside for you. Not saying that He wont' use you until then, because He will. But there has to be a firm foundation in truth. Think of the plastic encasement at the bottom of the glue stick as Christ...your mold:

"So God created man in His own image,
in the image of God He created him;
male and female He created them. " Genesis 1:27

He encompasses you and shapes you into the person He desires you to be (of course, if you let Him...) From that center core is the extension of you...the glue stick that you can use! You're able to go whichever way you please. But if that core is secure and firmly grounded, encased in the Lord, then you're most likely going to stay within His ways. Sure, there's a possibility that you could break off or become a bit misshapen, but we all make mistakes. He keeps us grounded, locked in place with Him. There is blessed assurance in that...

Glue sticks...

Have you ever noticed that when you think you've used up all the glue stick, there's still about half an inch left embedded in the plastic part that pushes the glue stick upwards when you twist the bottom? Now, if you will, imagine with me all the glue sticks at your local Wal*mart...with that little excess of embedded glue, how many more glue sticks could be made? There has to be a better way!!! Let's conserve the glue...okay, maybe not. But, then, one day I thought: what if they made flavored glue sticks? Non-toxic of course. Because, we all know that little kids eat glue...some big kids do to. I guess it wouldn't be a hot idea, since it would probably encourage the consumption of an otherwise inedible product. But, I still think it would be fun...

So, insert something deep and profound about life relating to glue sticks...I'll elaborate later, maybe...

What is this???

This is my update for all of you who say I don't update...

Ahh...sadies week, yes...tomorrow is the beginning of "it all." Thursday through Tuesday-Sadies madness...I don't know my thoughts and feelings about it this year yet. I do know that last year I tried to go all out, but it didn't quite work. Life goes on... Frankly, it brings me back to the whole casual dating thing at ACU, but I really don't want to go into that right now. It's too long and drawn out and ugly...ask me about it; I may start ranting. Honestly, I'm really tempted to go into the whole dating situation thing right now and devulge lots of stuff :) (most of which many people already know by now, but, hey, what's the harm in the rest of the world knowing? whatever) But I will graciously decline and save for a later date, when I have more time to think things through a little more clearly.

ANYWAY...moving right along...singing my song...I'm gonna go study for my test that's tomorrow...you should send an e-mail or real mail (yay!), call my cell (I love phone calls and messages)...find me, talk to me...'cause you're cool.

A fear, to none...

So, I have this fear right now...that I won't exactly make it to where God wants me; that I'll miss it somehow; I won't quite make the mark. Growing up in church, I would see and hear of teenagers and young adults who stopped going to church; then, I was afraid that when I got to that age, I would do the same, that I wouldn't stick with the faith and 'keep trucking along in the Lord.' By the grace of God, I stand here today able to say that my fears were never realized then. And, I pray, by faith, that I will be able to say that about this fear as well. I want to make it to that place that God desires for me to be; I want to be that person, that servant of His, to carry out His good and perfect will. I'm afraid of messing up, but I am reminded that He can work because of my mistakes and through my mistakes. And, in doing so, He continually is molding me into the person He has designed me to be. Why do I fear? Why do I worry? Simple lack of faith, human nature...probably. But there is someone greater who holds the world in the palm of His hand, who has created me in His image, who has called me (and you) blessed and highly favored, His child...and in Him, is everything. And there steps in the trust and the faith...not in myself, because I am only human, flawed, imperfect...but in Him. "For in Him we live and move and have our being." ~ Acts 17:28a

That's it...that's all I need to know. That's all I should rely on, all that holds me up - the blessed assurance and confidence in knowing that the Lord of hosts holds my destiny. If I just hold onto Him, to "seek Him first" and "all these things shall be added" (Matthew 6:33), then what should I worry about? To run to Him, that is where I need to go.

I am reminded: "
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." ~ Philippians 4:6-7 So, why worry, offer it up to Him and let the fear subside. And His amazing peace...incredible...let's me know that it's all going to okay, every last detail. He will make it beautiful in His time.

"And I am sure that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ." Philippians 1:6

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. To hold onto Him, to seek Him first and to fear not, for He is with me and will never leave me or forsake me...and the same to you.

That's poor..

I haven't updated in a week...that is poor. Shame on me...

Anywho...so today is fall break, and I am at home because of a fun paper that I have the privilege of writing for class...yay. One page down, two more to go...single-spaced is great! Last night was the Jeremy Camp, Building 429 and some dude with the last name of Watts concert! It rocked my face off!!! I discovered that I now have good head banging hair...yay! I enjoyed the concert though...definitely helped my spirits with the whole I-didn't-get-to-leave-Abilene-during-fall-break blues.

Enough of that. Tonight's the big Abilene Cooper game, and I'm so not gonna be there. I think I've grown out of it or something. Just doesn't really interest me a whole lot. It's a shame really, oh well...good luck coogs! So, my e-mail and all the ACU whatnot is going to be down this weekend...no incoming e-mail :( I suddenly feel partially disconnected from the world (it's not like I don't have another e-mail account, aim, a phone, a car...you get the idea). Sometimes you just want to get onto my acu to make sure you have enough chapel credits or that your uniprint balance isn't strangely diminishing...just for peace of mind. Have you heard??? Pledging is OVER!!! yay! and there was much rejoicing. I was getting real tired of it and quick...but it's done. Everyone's in club...now for more socials to commence...ugghh, that just means find more dates to go to the social and pay money for the social, but you get dinner and a cool t-shirt. Welcome to club. Meanwhile, in band land...Band retreat is in 21 days!!! I'm sure hungry for some shepherd's pie. Woe to you who cannot go..sad dagger. I guess I should find a camera to use for the weekend. I'm so excited!!!

So, the meaningless drivel is going to end now. I will return later with something a little more in depth and thought provoking...now back to some military public affairs, yipee!

Jamfest...

Watching Jamfest tonight and soaking it all reminded me of those times before...of listening to music and more music and more music. Yesteryear...the days of Godstock, superChristbuffet, the Peacemakers, hey even twocentson (That wasn't very long ago, or was it?). That really makes me happy :) It's the music: the sounds, the emotions, the passion, the utter "yay-ness" of it all. The wonder of music!

This weekend, or at least just Saturday, promises to be an eventful one. But, by the grace of God, I will make it through and have enough energy on the other side to write another paper...woo hoo! Still, there is nothing to complain about: I am blessed and highly favored, a child of God and joint-heir with Christ. The Lord has spoken His word of blessings, favor, peace, joy and love...these things which are promised to us by the very mouth of the God Almighty. And, they are true...because He cannot lie; He speaks only the uncompromising truth. The Most High God...amazing!

The word...

Yay for a semi-relaxing weekend. Those are nice to have every once in a while...I take what I can get.

Update and whatnot...

It's been a few days...cow pinatas that moo converted into hats make me happy...so, Alpha Kai Omega grub was Friday night. Fun times...my friend and I dressed up like ducks. Yay! Several of us went to the TLN afterwards and watched Toy Story 2, got a sticky bat stuck to the ceiling and spilled alot of water. Out of control, that's all I have to say about that.

Two more weeks of pledging and I'm trying to be a good kai-o and call these new members back so they can have a visit with me...I hate having such a busy schedule, but I love it all at the same time...so weird. Next week's gonna be pretty busy, yay for Homecoming! Then, the week after, I'm gonna try to basically get every day off from American Eagle since I have something potentially planned for every night...then Friday October 29, it's fall break!!! Woo hoo! I think Tark and I, and others, are planning on going to Corpus for the weekend...fun times...ummm...you should come.

Fall break = :) Okay, so maybe it's just one day, but, hey, at least it's a day. We'll have a three-day weekend and then come back for more school...and Sadies week begins that Thursday...ummm...no pressure. *random thought that will remain in my head right now* ya

So, today I got to swing at the park and look up into the Windows XP blue sky surrounded by Kai-os - three of my favorite things! It was really exciting. I absolutely love going to the park just to swing on the swings. There's something about that that makes things better for that moment in time. I can close my eyes and find a child-like peace...it's great. I wish I could do it more often.

Beautiful...

It has been a beautiful day...of course it has been full of its blahs, but the Lord has made this day...so it's gonna be a beautiful. I most definitely had a rough time realizing that last week. It seems like everything that could've gotten me down did...and by the end of the week, I was either dillusional or cynical about anything and everything. Let's just say I didn't like my attitude at all...que feo! I pray that my efforts to change that attitude this week will be fruitful...by God's grace!

I'm here at Java City supposedly studying...but it's nice to come here and "get away."

Tomorrow proves to be an eventful day beginning at 6:45 a.m. with a pledging activity, a test at 7 a.m., another at 9:30, then work on FilmFest stuff along with classes, and then at 9:05 p.m. Sing Song hostess auditions. I'm still a bit amazed that I'm actually going through with this, but I am...and I think it'll be fun...hopefully, the Lord will use this time for whatever He can use it for (if that makes sense).

A Saturday in itself...

ACU football today...games always tire me out for some reason...maybe it's being outside for nearly six hours; that could have something to do with it. We sure did lose, but life goes on.
But, at the game, I sure did treat a friend badly...and maybe not so much in actions and words directed at them (although it may have manifested itself in actions), but in thoughts and a few words to others. And for that, I apologize...it's wrong, and I don't know why I did it...frustration, maybe just being stupid...but it's not right either way. So, even if you did know or not, I'm sorry...please forgive me *Breaks out into song* And to myself: take heed to the word of the Lord:

I think I need to take a Jesiree day...just a day for me to spend time alone and with the Lord, to put aside everything - all the stresses go away (yes, that includes homework, classes, work, boys, etc.) and just have time to regroup. Not to say that I'll be an emotional mess if I don't, Because that's not something that I think I'll let happen (by the grace of God). I just need time to refocus...but finding the time to have time to do that...that's a different story. The Lord will provide.

Tonight my prayer goes out to all you who need that time alone and with your Creator. I pray that you find Him in that place in that moment in time...may peace and joy and restoration to your soul be there.

Power, love and a sound mind...

So, I've been ranting and raving all night...blah blah blah...I need to quit talking and actually do something about it. And, when I tell myself that, is when I quit talking because it's a scary thought to actually do something...to actually open my mouth and let words out that could reveal alot of stuff from the inward parts (stuff that could potentially be quite obvious to some). It reminds me of part of a Bethany Dillon song:
I want to hide/what's deep in my eyes/I'm scared to be known by you/But when I turn my head/and see you there/I wanna be pursued//Gaze into my eyes/and let me know you'd fight/Thousands, for my love/slip your hand in mine/ask me to dance with you tonight/just ask me for my love//
Ya, that's about where I am right now...
It's hard, and, frankly, it's a bit scary to me.

Then, I am reminded:
"God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, of love and a sound mind." ~2 Tim. 1:7
Power, love and a sound mind...so if I live by the word of God and grab a hold of that truth, then there's nothing to be afraid of. There are 366 instances of "Do not fear" in the Bible...I really need one of those right now. Because even though I see the words of 2 Timothy 1:7 in front of me, I'm still not completely grasping the fact that I have that power, love and the sound mind to do all things through Christ who gives me strength. It's that embarrassment/fear of rejection that keeps creeping up into my thought processes. I fail to grab a hold of that and catch on to the blessings of what He has in store for me. But I'm not sure how to get there...maybe it's just taking that leap of faith, stepping out on nothing...to land on something...

In need...

sometimes I just need to be still and breathe...to take my mind off the clutter, the pain, the stresses, all of it, and just stop...realign everything...then begin walking again...a deep breath...the Lord will see me through...
He is my refuge in time of need.

A final word about the paper...

The paper is FINISHED!!! woo hoo! As I walked out of the lab last night after electronically submitting my paper, a huge burden was lifted off my shoulders. It was incredible. Thanks be to God for this freedom! Apparently, the burden of that paper combined with the lack of sleep from bid night and whatnot had really impacted my composure (physically and spiritually). The first thing my youth pastor asked me on Sunday night was if I was really stressed out with school work because He could see it on me that morning. I am so glad that is burden is gone; I can honestly say that I feel so much better.
Bid Night was great...so much fun. The girls pledging this year are amazing, and I look forward to getting to know each and every one of them! Yay for alpha kai omega!
I've been listening to the Shaun Groves "Twilight" cd lately. You should invest in it; it's really good.
The Lord has been doing some incredible things in and around my life. He is so good and so faithful. Don't miss out on experiencing the blessing of Heaven today!

I figured out that I can't work on my paper at home when there are other people here. It just doesn't work. I wish I was still in the lab at don morris, or that I didn't leave the lab at 5:30. Maybe then I would've been done...but I'm not...

Comm law break...

*Break time from Comm Law paper* (I'm excited...I have almost one page. The intro usually takes me the longest to do, so I think I'm fairing pretty well.)
Man...it's been a rough week. (I know...it's only Tuesday) It seems like so many things have just tried to invade my peace and joy already. And, sadly enough, I let it do that for quite sometime. Let's just say I was moping around quite a bit this morning...especially during psychology (sorry you guys had to put up with that) But, the Lord really got a hold of me after that and reminded me that He is good and in control. My days can seem like everything's crashing down, but He's right there...right next to me...holding my hand and reminding me that I am a child of God, an heir to the most high King. Is that not incredible? I think it is...the Lord is so amazing! And, I figure this was my challenge; it was my giant that I had to face for right now. I had an incredible weekend in the Lord...so when the week started up (starting on Sunday night), the darts and attacks just started flying straight for me. And, I fell into that self-pity crud of "everything's going bad...oh woe is me." I hate it when I do that! But, the Lord picked me up again and set me back on the path. He's good at doing that :)

Comm Law...

In an hour at 7:30-ish, I will be sitting in Don Morris 200 of Abilene Christian University taking my first Communication Law test. I'm ready for this to be over...I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.
When 11:00 rolls around (or after I'm through with my Psychology test...which I probably ought to study more for), I think I'll feel a bit better...Free Telecast concert tonight: that's my reward!

When I am weak...

Oh man...what would I do without the hope of heaven in my heart? Without the knowledge that the Lord takes care of all that I need...that He is in control? Right now, I know that I wouldn't be able to hold it all together. But He is good and faithful to help me through, to give me strength when there seems to be none and hope when it seems to be dim. Most of all, especially right now, He gives me peace...even when the stress seems to overwhelm me. He is my peace. And, that is an amazing thought right now. It's an amazing truth.

It's been a rough week so far...just stressful and tiresome. And, I've gotten to the point, at least I'm there right now, where I'm just mean...and I don't like to be mean. I don't like to complain, but I find myself doing it even now... Irritable and grouchy are not two words that I want used to describe me, yet right now, it seems that I'm falling into that. I blame it mostly on a lack of sleep and an overabundance of schoolwork...but, I find myself trying to claw my way out of this mire. To make it back to the solid ground - the luscious green grass sprinkled with vibrant wildflowers under the Windows XP-blue sky - that's where I want to be again...in what I like to call: hunkie dorie land (spelled with an -ie because it makes it that much more happy). And, then I remember, that I can be there again: the joy of the Lord is my strength. What's better than that? I surely can't think of any stronger, more effective source of power than that of the Lord. That's what I want to strive on...to plug into the awesome power of the grace, wonder, majesty and pure joy that is found in Christ Jesus. There is no joy, no peace and no hope quite like His.

So there's where I stand right now...at the decision to not let the stress affect the condition of my heart, but to press on through Him. "

Wow...

Last night I went to bed trying to comprehend the awesomeness of God...and it just doesn't work. I can't figure it out. I can't articulate it with even the most eloquent of words. I can only experience the wonder and awe that comes with the revelation that God truly is astounding. And for me to try to relay that feeling and that experience to you with only the words that can be uttered out of my mouth and backed by human understanding is impossible. I can only urge you to search for that which is amazing in Him, that which leaves you speechless...for He is truly awesome.

"Let all the earth fear the LORD;
Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.

Sudden change in subjects...It's Monday: One test down, three to go and a paper (the paper to end all papers) to write...this week will be tough, but by the grace of God I can make it through. I took a break from reading today...my eyes glazed over after two hours of non-stop Communication Law bliss...and went to the fair...woo hoo! Yay for cajun boil and fudge...I think I ate too much; my stomach is screaming profanities at me...but it was good!

The beginning...

So, here I am...at the new "pad" or whatever. Diaryland was good for a season, I guess.

Anyway...this week is full of tests! And, it's rough...but, I think I'll make it through. By the grace of God, I know I'll make it through.

The first game of the season (for YBP purposes) was Saturday...the day drained all the life-giving energy out of me. After my seventh appearance in the West Texas Fair and Rodeo parade, some studying and the football game, my Happy Meal at McDonald's just couldn't give me that extra boost that I needed to do some more studying...instead I fell asleep like a little child in my warm (too warm) bed. Nevertheless, it was a good day...it was great day, in fact. I thoroughly enjoyed it...void of stress, heartache and the sense of failure (that's not cool...ever).
